Our Origins and Structure
The Trilogy Capital Group was
formed to harness 150 years of combined property
experience of its founding partners.
Rodger Bacon, the Trilogy
Capital Group Chairman, is well regarded in
Australian business circles, particularly for
his role as one of the architects of growth and
development of the highly successful listed
financial services company Challenger
International Limited.

Trilogy Capital
Services Pty Limited (ACN 109 457 838) is
the property lending and syndication portion of the
business and operates in conjunction with its wholly
owned subsidiary Trilogy Funds Management Limited
(AFS Licence 261425, ACN 080 383 679). The mortgage
lending activities of the Group commenced in
Brisbane in 1999 and the acquisition of the business
interest and management by Trilogy Capital Services
Pty Limited was completed in July 2004.

383 679) is the funds management company and holds
Australian Financial Services Licence No. 261425. It
is the Responsible Entity for a number of mortgage
investment trusts and property syndicates.

Trilogy Capital Partners Pty Limited (ACN
108 873 258) focuses on property development
opportunities, and in particular where it can
“partner” significant corporations to achieve their
aims in real estate ownership, development and
leasing. Activities cover residential, commercial,
retail and industrial properties. Through its
shareholding “partners” it can demonstrate all the
relevant knowledge and skills, with each having the
ability to draw on more than thirty years experience
on the path to acquisition, development, management
and funding of projects.

Trilogy Structured Properties uses the
very extensive property investment, funds management
and finance skills in the Trilogy Capital Group to
structure real estate investments. The central aim
is to “allocate” the various aspects of the property
asset in order to match the specific return, risk
and cash flow needs of different investor groups. In
some cases these transactions may bring into play
other parts of the Trilogy Capital Group such as
funds management, lending and property development.

Rodger Bacon
Chairman and Chairman of the Executive Committee.
In the recent past Rodger was an Executive
Director and significant shareholder of
Challenger International Limited. In his last
two years he was the Executive Director
responsible for the lending business of Howard
Mortgage Trust and chaired the Credit Committee.
Challenger Annuities, another successful
Challenger product for which Rodger was
responsible, commenced in 1997/98 and captured
30% of the long term annuity sales in Australia,
and built a property portfolio in Australia,
United Kingdom and United States of America in
excess A$2.6 billion.
Prior to that Rodger worked with the Schroder
Merchant Banking Group for 15 years during which
time he had extensive experience in all aspects of
funds management; research and analysis, management
of equities; domestic and foreign, fixed interest
and direct property as a Board member of the ASX
listed Schroder Property Fund, money market dealing
and lending (credit analysis) and corporate finance.

Philip Ryan
Managing Director
Phil has been responsible for the development of
Trilogy’s mortgage and property products. He sits on
the Lending Committee and Compliance Committee for
the funds managed by the company. A solicitor for
over 20 years he is also experienced in commercial
law, corporate law, funds management and financial
planning. He is also a partner of a Brisbane based
law firm. Phil is an associate of the Securities
Institute of Australia, Member of the Queensland Law
Society and Fellow of the Taxation Institute of
Australia.

John Barry
Non-Executive Director- Structured Property
In the past John was an
Executive Director of Challenger International
Limited. John was involved in all aspects of the
group as it expanded through the acquisition and
management of a broad range of financial
investment and service businesses ranging from
investment products, equity funds management,
mortgage trusts, financial planning, annuities
both long and short, master trusts and corporate
superannuation.
In particular John was
directly responsible for the acquisition and initial
ongoing management of the Howard Mortgage Trust.
John has a background in Chartered Accountancy with
Coopers & Lybrand both in Australian and the U.K.
After this he worked with Morgan Grenfell Australia
and was a Director of Rothschild Australia Limited.

David Hogan
Head of Property Assets
David has over 30 years
experience in property related financial
services and direct property. This experience
encompasses the areas of risk management, debt
and equity, acquisition planning and execution
and property portfolio management.
David was previously a
Director of Challenger Property Capital Limited for
nine years. During this period he played a
significant role in the development of Challenger’s
global commercial property portfolio which, at that
time, had an estimated value approaching A$3.0
billion. His operational brief also included
participating as a Senior Executive in the
development and the strategic and transaction
management of Challenger’s property syndication
business and membership of the Credit Committee of
the Howard Mortgage Trust.

Trevor Gibson
Director - Distribution
Trevor Gibson has over 20
years’ experience in the financial services
profession, following on from an earlier career
in engineering. He has held roles as a financial
adviser, investment research and administration
manager, marketing manager and has been the
Queensland State Manager for several national
fund management groups.
Trevor has written a
bestselling book “Mastering Your Money” together
with an award winning series of financial
education articles. He also developed a student
financial educational program that was provided
to over 5,000 high school students throughout
Australia.
Trevor has a Diploma of
Financial Planning and is a Fellow of the
Financial Planning Association of Australia
Limited.
Trevor uses his extensive
knowledge and industry experience to develop
Trilogy’s strong relationships with the financial
planning community and to meet our objective of
providing adviser services of the highest possible
standard.

Joe Christie
Head of Distribution – New South Wales and ACT
Joe is responsible for developing and
maintaining Trilogy’s distribution network via
financial planning dealer groups in NSW & ACT.
Joe originally commenced his career in the
international tax division of KPMG in Sydney.
Prior to Trilogy, Joe spent 4 years as the
national sales manager of Oasis Asset Management
and was responsible for servicing Oasis’ clients
nationally.
Joe also has extensive experience in IT in
particular developing large IT projects for
financial services participants.
Joe is a CPA and is an associate of FINSIA.

John Archer
Head of Distribution - Southern Region
John is a key member of Trilogy’s expansion into
the Victorian market. As Head of Distribution –
Southern Region, John is responsible for the
continued development and maintenance of the
dedicated relationships with key dealer groups and
financial planners in Victoria, Tasmania and South
Australia.
With 19 years of experience in the funds
management and financial planning industries, John
brings with him strong leadership skills, extensive
experience in property and mortgage trusts, as well
as sound strategic marketing expertise.
Prior to joining Trilogy Funds Management, John
was the Senior Business Development Manager of the
South Eastern Region for Zurich Investments. Prior
to this role, he held State Manager roles with OFM
Investment Group, Australian Unity Funds Management
and Connelly Temple. John holds a Bachelor of
Business from RMIT, a Diploma of Financial Planning
from Deakin University and is an Associate of the
Financial Planning Association.

Justin Smart
Head of Finance
Justin oversees the accounting and operations
teams from Trilogy’s administration hub in Brisbane.
Justin’s experience lies in managing financial
operations and overseeing audit processes across
Australia and New Zealand.
Justin holds a bachelor of commerce from Deakin
University and is a Certified Practicing Accountant.

Paul Wood
Business Development - Lending
Paul is responsible for the sourcing of new
lending opportunities for Trilogy. This involves
preparing and overseeing all loan submissions from
brokers and direct borrowers, preparation of Letters
of Offer, satisfaction of loan conditions, monthly
construction draw-downs and the ongoing monitoring
of the loans from inception to completion and
repayment.
Over his career, Paul has obtained a wealth of
knowledge and experience working with some of the
larger financial institutions in Australia and has
been responsible for managing and maintaining
substantial lending portfolios for a diverse range
of projects and areas. Paul has a degree in Property
Economics and a Graduate Certificate in Project
Management from the Queensland University of
Technology.

Rohan Butcher
Non-Executive Director
Rohan brings over fifteen year’s experience to
the board in the construction and property industry
in a number of roles including Quantity Surveying,
Estimating, Project Administration, Development
Management, Planning and Project Management for both
construction and development activities.
Rohan has specialist expertise in the area of
design management, cost planning and control
together with project management, construction and
planning. He has been involved in a number of major
projects within the residential, retail and
commercial property sectors, while undertaking a
variety of senior appointments with major public and
private companies.
